Donald Trump appeared to compare the situation of hostages held by Hamas to World War Two prisoners of Nazi Germany during his meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu today, X users say.
In a clip circulating on X, Trump was describing the horrific conditions those held captive by Hamas are facing while sat next to Netanyahu, who took a 249 mile detour to avoid flying over Ireland for an alarming reason.
During his meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister in the Oval Office, Trump answered a number of questions about plans for a ceasefire in Gaza. The President spoke about his proposed plan for the US to take control of the Gaza strip, and the ongoing horrors that are occurring there.
Trump said to reporters: “I said to [the former hostages], was there any sign of love? You were there. Ten people, it’s only 10 but it’s pretty representative. Did Hamas show any signs of, like, help or liking you? Did they give you a piece of bread extra? Did they give you a meal on the side? Like what happened in Germany. Like what happened elsewhere. People try and help people that were in unbelievable distress. They said ‘No.'”
It comes after Trump had a bizarre brain collapse in Biden-esque moment’ while speaking for almost an hour last Wednesday, sparking health fears after yet another strange moment.

Trump went onto describe how asked the hostages if Hamas militants ever told them “you are going to be OK” – and how the hostages reported back to the President that this would never happen. Instead, they’d be slapped.
“People would try and help people that were in unbelievable distress. They said no… I said. ‘Did they ever wink at you like, you’re gonna be ok,’ they said, ‘no, they’d slap us.’ The hatred is unbelievable.”
In February, Trump compared the released hostages to Holocaust survivors, citing their emaciated state and brutal treatment.
He told reporters that the hostages looked like they “haven’t had a meal in a month,” and that they are “people that were healthy people a reasonably short number of years ago, and you look at them today, they look like they’ve aged 25 years, they literally look like the old pictures of Holocaust survivors, the same thing. No reason for that.”
X users were confused by the comment, with one claiming Trump showed signs of “senility.” Another asked “What in God’s name is he saying?”
A third said: “All gibberish and this who’s heading up the USA. You’re the laughing stock of the world!”
It come as French and Mideast leaders spoke to Trump on Monday about ways to urgently secure a ceasefire in Gaza, stressing the need to resume access for aid supplies, according to the French president’s office.
The three leaders — France’s Emmanuel Macron, Egypt’s Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and King Abdullah II of Jordan — decided to keep in close contact with Trump, Macron’s office said.
The phone call took place ahead of Trump’s meeting with Netanyahu at the White House on Monday.
Macron is in Egypt and will visit security forces and aid workers Tuesday. Earlier Monday he urged the lifting of Israel’s blockade on humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Irish Star has contacted the White House for clarification on Trump’s “Germany” comment.
